RMS Roller Grinder Patents New Grinder
United States Patent No. 11,077,445
Recently, our firm assisted one of our clients, Pearson Inc., doing business as RMS Roller Grinder of Harrisburg, SD, in obtaining U.S. Patent No. 11,077,445 on “GRINDING ROLL IMPROVEMENTS.” This patent protects aspects of a grinding roll typically used in an apparatus for grinding particulate material, such as grains, into smaller particles. RMS has developed many patented innovations for grinding apparatus directed to enhancing grinding efficiency and, such as in this case, extending the useful life of a grinding roll before the teeth of the roll become too dull to grind grain effectively. The inventors at RMS recognized that coating the teeth formed from the base material of the grinding roll with a relatively harder material would slow the wearing of the teeth to a dull condition. But RMS also recognized that, even when the harder material began to wear off of the teeth, a pair of hardened edges would be formed where the harder material meets the softer base material of the worn tooth, which in turn would provide additional edges useful for grinding the grain particles, which is also helpful in extending the useful life of the grinding roll.
