Woods Fuller Celebrates Shareholder’s 45 Years with Firm

Since 1976, Gary P. Thimsen shared his abilities with Woods Fuller clients in areas ranging from liability concerns to civil litigation, employment law, and more. Over the course of his practice, Gary tried over 100 jury trials.

Gary retired from the firm at the beginning of the year, though he still frequents the office, popping in to chat with friends and colleagues.

As an attorney, Gary was active in the State Bar of South Dakota with guest lecturing, continuing legal education programs, and as part of many bar-sponsored law school programs. Additionally, he belongs to the South Dakota Defense Lawyers Association, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association, and is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

This long-time attorney has received numerous recognitions from “Best Lawyers in America,” “America’s Leading Lawyer for Business,” and “Super Lawyers.”

A former airplane pilot, Gary is also a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He remains active in military and veteran’s matters working with both active duty and former military personnel on a pro bono basis.

In retirement, Gary is most enjoying time on the golf course. He is spending time with his family: Grace - his wife, Grant & Katie - his son and daughter-in-law, daughters Anne and Sarah, as well as his two grandchildren.

Gary continues to be active in ABOTA and the SD State Bar Veterans Committee.

Cheers to an amazing career and we hope you enjoy retirement, Gary!
