Woods Fuller Announces Unique Art Collection
On the heels of a significant office renovation in 2020-2021, Sioux Falls-based Woods, Fuller, Shultz & Smith acquired a unique collection of original art rooted in the artists and geographic themes of South Dakota and the upper Midwest.
Woods Fuller's goals were clear: build a new collection that drew relevant pieces from its existing collection but emphasized new acquisitions and custom commissions from working artists with ties to South Dakota.
Over the course of numerous months, an internal committee met to make decisions regarding new acquisitions, custom commissions, art placement, and countless details related to framing and display. To accomplish the goals and carry out the vision, Woods Fuller engaged the expertise of Kara Dirkson, founder of Alla Prima Art Services. “The result is a beautiful, carefully curated art collection that celebrates the diverse offerings of regional artists,” said Dirkson.
The project brought business to nearly two dozen artists and small businesses. “This collection demonstrates our unique commitment to create a meaningful environment for our staff and our clients as well as invest in our community and do business locally,” added James Moore, Woods Fuller shareholder and art committee member.
Art from the following artists make the collection especially unique: Paul Peterson, Linn Thygeson, JoAnne Bird, Jenny Braig, Ceca Cooper, Nathan Holman, NancyJane Huehl, Lotus Knapp, Brad Kringen, Eyob Mergia, Mary Payton, Kristin Peterson, P. Michael Hook, Don Montileaux, Sheila Agee, d. George Prisbe-Przybysz, Margo Vanderhill, and the late Robert Fletcher Gilder.
To celebrate and commemorate the collection, Woods Fuller hosted a reception for the artists as well as clients on Thursday, April 7, 2022. It was a chance to view the artwork in its new environment and meet the artists.
