Q&A with Woods Fuller Attorney Drew Driesen
Where did you grow up?
Outside of brief stints in Iowa City and the Des Moines area, I’ve spent almost my whole life in Sioux County—and most of that in Orange City.
Describe yourself in 30 words.
At work, I strive to be a careful and driven advocate. Outside the office, I’m a husband, a dog guy, (sometimes less enthusiastically) a cat guy, and a college-football obsessive.
What motivated you to choose your practice areas?
I have a mixed practice. It’s an oversimplification, but lawyers broadly tend to divide the practice of law into “litigation” and “business” buckets. I do some of both. What I find most rewarding about litigation is stepping in and making arguments on behalf of clients who, for one reason or another, have found themselves in a difficult spot. And what I enjoy most about business work is working with clients excited about the prospects of starting new ventures or expanding existing ones.
What do you like most about your work?
Law is a challenging, dynamic profession. No two clients, no two cases, and no two days are ever the same.
Tell us something not many people know about you.
Lawyer stereotypes notwithstanding, I might be the worst golfer you have ever met. (The select few who have had the poor fortune of golfing with me in a team event can attest.)
