Morgan is a Sioux Falls native who joined Woods Fuller in 2014. She practices primarily in the areas of health care law and employment law. In the health care arena, Morgan assists hospitals, surgical centers, physician groups, individual physicians, and other health care professionals and entities in complying with the various laws and regulations that apply to the health care industry. Matters Morgan helps clients with include: assisting clients with HIPAA compliance; reviewing proposed business transactions and providing clients with guidance on structuring arrangements to minimize risk under health care fraud and abuse laws such as the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute; and advising practitioners and facilities regarding licensing issues.
In addition, Morgan works with large and small employers from the health care industry and a wide range of other industries in navigating an array of federal, state, and local employment laws. Specifically, Morgan counsels clients on matters pertaining to: employee hiring, discipline, and termination; drug and alcohol testing and other employee testing; discrimination and harassment in the workplace; FMLA leave; wage and hour laws; employee restrictive covenants; and accommodation of employee disabilities. She also reviews and drafts employee handbooks and policies, employment contracts, and separation agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, Morgan clerked for Chief Justice David E. Gilbertson of the South Dakota Supreme Court and the Honorable Roger L. Wollman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Morgan graduated with Sterling Honors from the University of South Dakota School of Law, where she served as president of the Moot Court Board, was a graduate assistant, and participated in Trial Team.
